Two types of scaling
will be
addressed by our procedural documents:
- A ) MILL SCALE;
a layer of carbonized metal left on during the manufacturing process
affecting
metal finish and adhesion.
Immersion:
Many components, pipes and
plates can
be immersed in tanks and vats. Our product BIOPASS®,
is an excellent mill scale remover and surface pickler. Our
inhibitors insure
that a minimum of surface layer is removed. An Iron Phosphate
coating can
be left on the cleaned pieces which is an excellent rust inhibitor
(meets
CGSB 31-GP-108M & MIL-C-10578 specs.) or the pieces can be
rinsed off and
dried for packaging.
Circulation:
Piping systems assembled on site
for production
use often require pickling to remove mill scale and carbon
deposited onto
the system by the welding procedure. BCS
INC. has pioneered on site pipe cleaning using a closed loop
circulation method.
Using our holding tanks, pumps and hoses we recirculate our
chemicals through
completed piping systems insuring high levels of cleanliness. Once
again
the system can be left treated with an Iron Phosphate coating
(meets CGSB
31-GP-108M & MIL-C-10578 specs.) , Oil coating or simply blown
dry.
- B ) WATER BORNE
SCALE:
various minerals found in potable water combine into a hardened
layers obstructing
flows in piping and small bore equipment. This will greatly affect
water flows,
pressures, cooling or heating capacities. This build up is often
found in
heat exchangers (both tube and plate type), piping systems, after
coolers,
manifolds, cooling and heating jackets and pump heads.
Cleaning method:
Circulation:
A closed loop circulation method
is the
best way to insure complete removal of solids from within systems
and components.
Using our holding tanks, pumps and hoses we circulate chemical
throughout
the system to be cleaned. Contact time enables the chemical to
dissolve
the impurities and circulation helps create turbulence which moves
larger
chunks of scale out into our filtration systems. During cleaning
our technicians
will reverse flow directions to insure that no pockets have formed
or scale
trapped within narrow openings. Once cleaned the system is
thoroughly rinsed
to remove any trace of chemicals.
All chemicals and wastes are removed
from
site for treatment and disposal by BCS INC.
N.B. : There is often a build up or
"gumming"
of oils used in systems that will also degrade performance of
equipment. We
at BCS INC. can also offer solutions to
these flow
restriction problems.
Please contact one of our
representatives
to further discuss how we can help solve your flow problems and
provide you
with detailed procedural
brochure.
