Industrial descaling is the process of removing mineral deposits, primarily limescale, and other calcium-based buildups, from the internal surfaces of industrial equipment and systems.
Examples of equipment commonly treated during industrial descaling include chillers, cooling towers, plate and shell heat exchangers, steam generators, and water-cooled compressors. Over time, scale buildup can reduce operational efficiency, increase energy consumption, and cause significant damage or failure of equipment if left untreated.
The descaling process involves the use of chemical descalers, usually acid-based solutions, which dissolve the scale without harming the underlying metal.
In some cases, mechanical methods like scraping or high-pressure water jetting may also be used. Regular industrial descaling is essential for maintaining equipment performance, ensuring safety, and prolonging the lifespan of costly machinery.
